This illustration is from the 1853 H.G. Bohn Reprint. The black and white image depicts Ellen read her the Bible to Mamma in the parlour. Mamma is sitting on her couch, with a blanket drapped over her, the tea set sitting on the table next to the couch. Ellen is sitting on an ottoman, her head bowed toward the book. The bottom of the illustration is the title "Ellen reads the Bible to Mamma".

This black and white lithograph is a frontispiece from the 1896 Walter Scott, Ltd. Reprint. The image depicts a scene from page 9, when Ellen is serving her mother tea and toast on a tray. Ellen's mother, covered in a shawl and sitting on her couch, takes the tea cup from the tray, smiling. Ellen's head is bowed toward the tray in filial submission.
