In the title page for T. Nelson & Sons' 1912 edition of the novel, the text is enclosed within a decorative border resembling floral vines. The title is printed in the top quarter of the page without a period. The author's name is printed under the pseudonym Elizabeth Wetherell. A red stamp indicates the book was collected on the 17th of October in 1912 by the Advocates Library in Edinburgh. The address of the publisher is not listed.

Alice is making cakes when Ellen arrives, while Margery sits over by the fire, behind the table. Alice holds a lantern over her head, looking down at Ellen, holding a plate of cakes. Ellen is dressed in her outer wear of the time period.
