This is the frontispiece to the [1874] William Nicholson & Sons, S.D. Ewins & Co. Reprint, depicting Ellen arriving at Alice's while she is making cakes. This colorful image depicts a scene from page 72, of Alice, Ellen and Margery, together in the kitchen. Alice is making cakes when Ellen arrives, while Margery sits over by the fire, behind the table. Alice holds a lantern over her head, looking down at Ellen, holding a plate of cakes. Ellen is dressed in her outer wear of the time period.

This black and white frontispiece of the 1896 Walter Scott, Ltd. "Complete Edition" reprint, Ellen serving Mamma tea in the parlour. In the illustration, Mamma is receiving a teacup from a platter Ellen is holding. A caption below the illustration reads, "She used to carry the tea and toast on a little tray to her mother's side." From page 9 of the novel.

This black and white lithograph is a frontispiece from the 1896 Walter Scott, Ltd. Reprint. The image depicts a scene from page 9, when Ellen is serving her mother tea and toast on a tray. Ellen's mother, covered in a shawl and sitting on her couch, takes the tea cup from the tray, smiling. Ellen's head is bowed toward the tray in filial submission.

This black and white frontispiece to the [1950] University of London Press, Ltd. Abridged reprint, depicts Ellen arriving at Aunt Fortune's farm. In the illustration, Ellen's silhouette is standing at the door wearing a bonnet and dress. The fire in the chimney is the only light in the room, illuminating Aunt Fortune's frowning face as she faces Ellen at the door. Aunt Fortune is carrying a lamp in one and and a plate of flood in the other. The grandmother's silhouette is seen sitting in a chair in front of the fire.An inscription below the frontispiece reads, "Who are you? And what's wanting?" which quotes page 58 of the novel.

This black and white illustration appears on page 244b of the 1892 J.B. Lippincott Co. "New Edition" Reprint Depicting Ellen reading to grandma. In the illustration, Ellen and grandma are seated in front of the fire place. Ellen's chair is perpendicular in front of grandma's. Ellen is reading from a book sitting on her lap as grandma listens. An inscription below the illustration reads, "As soon as she was set free Ellen brought her the Bible." The scene depicted appears on page 245 of the novel.
