An excerpt from Longfellow's poem, "It Is Not Always May," is above the text.  The first letter from the text, M,  is larger the rest and in a fancy font.

This is the decorative title page to the [1874] William Nicholson & Sons, S.D. Ewins & Co. Reprint. The title is printed in the page's top quarter followed by a period. The author's pseudonym, Elizabeth Wetherell, appears below a decorative rule. An decorative image of a rose branch appears in the page's middle. William Nicholson & Sons' address is listed as, "Wakefield." Above a decorative rule, S.D. Ewins & Co.'s address is listed as, "London, Paternoster Row."

This is the frontispiece to the [1874] William Nicholson & Sons, S.D. Ewins & Co. Reprint, depicting Ellen arriving at Alice's while she is making cakes. This colorful image depicts a scene from page 72, of Alice, Ellen and Margery, together in the kitchen. Alice is making cakes when Ellen arrives, while Margery sits over by the fire, behind the table. Alice holds a lantern over her head, looking down at Ellen, holding a plate of cakes. Ellen is dressed in her outer wear of the time period.

This is the front pastedown with an inscription of the [1874] William Nicholson & Sons, S.D. Ewins & Co. Reprint. In cursive is written S.H. Warner 37 Mill Lane.

In the title page for T. Nelson & Sons' 1912 edition of the novel, the text is enclosed within a decorative border resembling floral vines. The title is printed in the top quarter of the page without a period. The author's name is printed under the pseudonym Elizabeth Wetherell. A red stamp indicates the book was collected on the 17th of October in 1912 by the Advocates Library in Edinburgh. The address of the publisher is not listed.
