This is the full cover of the 1852 T. Nelson & Sons reprint, version 1. The cover is a red grain weave. On the front is the title of the novel and the author's name in a gilded stamp. The spine contains the novel's title and author's name again in a gilded stamp with an ornamental boarder and another decorative stamp below it.

This 1852 T. Nelson & Sons reprint is covered with a blue wave grain cloth (labeled Wav7 by the Library Company of Philadelphia). The front and back covers have ornate, stamped borders. The front cover has a gilt-stamped image of a boy in Huck Finn-style clothing, prototypically American, fishing, with a house in the background. The title and author's name are gilt-stamped in Birch font. The spine The title and author's name are repeated on the spine, and it has a gilt-stamped image of Alice and Ellen carrying supplies up the mountain. An arabesque border appears at the top and bottom of the spine.

This is the full cover of the 1853 Eli Charles Eginton & Co. "Pocket Library" Reprint. The front and back covers are the same embossed olive green cloth, with curlicue designs in each corner and a circular design in the middle. The words "The Pocket Library" are surrounding the inner circle where it reads, "One Shilling." Surrounding the circle design is a large pointed oval, with the curlicue corners being outside this oval. The Wide, Wide World is written in gold letters in the middle of a gold box on the spine. Three green curlicues and four green boxes decorative the rest of the spine.

This is the full cover of the 1853 G. Routledge and Co. Reprint. The front and back covers are green, and the spine is gold. Both covers have a border and leaves in each corner. The front cover features a gold globe with roses and thorns growing from it. The Wide, Wide World is written around the globe. On the spine, The Wide, Wide World is written in gold above Elizabeth Wetherell. The author's name is followed by a decoration of a lilly, with a hand holding the stem. There is the inscription: BEAR A LILY IN THY HANDS GATES OF BRASS CANNOT WITHSTAND ONE TOUCH OF THAT MAJIC WAND—LONGFELLOW. The entire spine is outlined with a gold border.

The Wide, Wide World is written on the top third of the spine, with Henry G. Bohn's Illustrated Edition written on the bottom third. Gold flowers and curlicues decorate the spine. The front and back covers have double ruled borders, and curlicues with what seems like a cross in the middle of the covers.

This is the full cover of the 1853 H.G. Bohn "Standard Library" Reprint. This dark green cloth cover has The Wide, Wide World, Henry G. Bohn's Edition 3/6 written on the spine in gold letters. The spine has designs of four-leaf clovers or crosses. The front and back covers have the same design, with a circular design in the middle and borders surrounding this design and the outside of the covers. The borders are made up of diamond-like designs, and the middle circular design is made up of flower-like curlicues.
