This front pastedown, from the 1883 James Nisbet & Co. "New Edition," includes a school prize plate pasted in with royal blue print. The prize plate is presented by the Ricardo Street School to Lily Plank [Plant], who "in Standard III attended punctually and regularly during the two School Quarters ended Xmas 1882 and March 1883." The prize plate is signed by Head Teacher Catherine Combs. "SCHOOL BOARD FOR LONDON." is printed on the top of the plate in an all-caps serif type. Parts of the interior text are printed in a script type, with the name of the school, the student, teacher, grade level, and ending dates of the quarters hand-written. The text, "BOOK AWARDED FOR PUNCTUAL AND REGULAR ATTENDANCE." is printed along the side in a serif font, with each word given its own line. Finely laced and printed lines divide portions of the prize plate.
