This illustration from the 1879 James Nisbet & Co. "Golden Ladder Series" Reprint depicts "the Letter from Home." The caption states "the Letter from Home." The letter carrier is delivering Ellen a letter while riding a white horse. There is evidence of foxing on the page. This can be found on page 352.

This black and white illustration, appearing on page 350a of the [1910] R. F. Fenno & Company reprint, depicts Ellen accompanying Mr. Van Brunt into the woods. A caption below the illustration quotes a sentence from page 350 and reads, "Always a basket for flowers went along." In the illustration, Mr. Van Brunt and Ellen walk side by side as they enter the woods. Mr. Van Brunt holds an ax over his shoulder as he smiles down at Ellen. Ellen carries a basket over her arm and several flowers in her hand as she looks up at Mr. Van Brunt. They are surrounded by trees and other foliage. In the background are rolling hills with a small house set atop one of the hills.

This full-color illustration, found on page 346b of the [1907] Collins' Clear-Type Press reprint, depicts Ellen meeting the Brownie. In the illustration, Ellen is reaching out her hand to pet the horse Brownie as John and Ellen Chauncey watch. A caption below the illustration reads, "Oh, what a beauty!"
